Twitter already profitable, hiring (real) coders, and delivered a massive hit pedo networks
Not bad for a few weeks' work.
I promise there’s more I think about in my day than Elon Musk, but it doesn’t seem like it with my post history here on Substack. As I’ve said, it’s interesting to me because it’s business and software/tech, which are smack-dab in the center of my world. I hate social media, but I’d be into this story if it were some other product used by millions of fellow MAGA and conservatives, and had an effect on our indie media. I saw this news today and couldn’t resist.
So, guess who’s now profitable. Yes, Twitter:
Musk patched the Titanic’s iceberg holes, pumped out the water, entertained the guests, and turned the ship around on a dime like it was a Jet Ski.
He laid off a lot of employees. The tech industry is currently shedding their bloat like Chris Christie when he got that tummy tuck.
But, guess who’s hiring. Yes, Twitter:
Having gutted Twitter's staff, Elon Musk told remaining employees he plans to hire new engineers and salespeople, The Verge reported Monday. "During an all-hands meeting with Twitter employees today, Musk said that the company is done with layoffs and actively recruiting for roles in engineering and sales and that employees are encouraged to make referrals, according to two people who attended and a partial recording obtained by The Verge," the report said.
This is further support to the above Twitter thread’s informed speculation, as companies don’t hire people when they’re losing money. It’s hard to pay people when there’s no money to pay them. In all seriousness, this concept is lost on the ENTIRE “tech” and “business” digital media world.
What positions are open at Twitter?
Musk told employees in his ultimatum email that under his ownership, Twitter will be "much more engineering-driven. Design and product management will still be very important and report to me, but those writing great code will constitute the majority of our team and have the greatest sway."
After Musk's ultimatum deadline passed, he began meeting with engineers who chose to stay. In an email to staff on Friday, Musk wrote, "Anyone who actually writes software, please report to the 10th floor at 2 pm today. Before doing so, please email a bullet point summary of what your code commits have achieved in the past ~6 months, along with up to 10 screenshots of the most salient lines of code."
The commie tech news continues to insist on the narrative that Twitter is destined to crash:
Musk may have to hire engineers quickly to keep Twitter systems running properly. A Washington Post report quoted a former employee as saying layoffs and other departures "have left multiple critical systems down to two, one or even zero engineers."
Each one of these reports makes the previous Twitter engineering department look more and more incompetent.
Gutted departments include "Twitter's traffic and front end teams that route engineering requests to the correct backend services," a Verge report said.
Musk had his engineers gut most of the back end services because of the poor performance (remember the Android back-and-forth regarding RPC?).
"The team that maintains Twitter's core system libraries that every engineer at the company uses is also gone."
In the software world, we have an acronym “RTFC” for those who can’t seem to figure anything out and refuse to read code to solve their own problem. It stands for “Read The Fu**ing Code”. Musk could throw a rock, hit an engineer who would dive into the codebase and have that figured out and maintaining it in a few days.
From what I’m seeing, I wouldn’t hire an ex-Twitter engineer to fetch my coffee. It would take four of them anyway, and they’d still screw it up. Then I’d fire them and they’d tell me I’ll never be able to get another cup of coffee.
How could all of that payroll be burned to build such a crappy, unstable system? Ignore the fake news that because crappy engineering employees were canned, the platform is doomed.
It’s not doomed. Musk’s engineers write software that does stuff like self-driving cars and land space rockets back on launch pads. Twitter ain’t that complicated. It’s why they just had a traffic spike during the reinstatement of President Trump’s account, and then the World Cup.
Somehow, things kept running. Imagine that. In terms of required technical expertise, Twitter is closer to Starbucks than it is SpaceX. That’s just a fact.
The biggest news, however, was Musk squashed specific hashtags used by pedos.
The previous regime knew about it, but did nothing, even though they’re saying they were working on it as early as 2021. The pedos would link up in DMs and do what they do.
There’s a reason why the lefties are panicking and scared of Musk. The San Francisco engineers hate him because he’s exposing the sloppy, lazy, overly-pampered untalented tech culture, to where the industry’s expectations are moving to engineers actually having to work and posses some semblance of competence. Government officials and corporate execs hate him because he has all their pedo DMs.
Let’s see if any of them pokes THIS bear.
Love winning. BTW, Elon and crew look like they just stepped off a prirate ship ready to take care of business. Get 'her done!
